Addressing Environmental Concerns with MD Department Of Natural Resources

Delegate Jay Walker initiated a meeting and tour of environmentally sensitive areas

with Maryland Secretary of Department of Natural Resources. The tour included the Marina at Captains Cove, which is in the process of being leased through the National Park Service. There, he addressed the need for dredging with the DNR Secretary Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio, and members of the National Park Service.

The tour continued to the proposed K-8 site, then downstream to waterfront properties suffering from silting, as a result of weak stormwater infrastructure and irresponsible development. The last stop was a property in the historic Silesia section of Livingston Rd, where they noticed several environmental infractions. I was happy to join the tour and direct them to St. John Church, where we walked to Henson Creek, and discussed restoration and resiliency.
